How to Create Custom Command Aliases in AutoCAD

AutoCAD is the most popular software used by design engineers even though it is a non-parametric software. The only reason behind it is it's powerful commands make the workflow as faster as our mind can think.......And Here is another technique that increases your workflow even faster.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMMAND ALIASES AND COMMANDS:

As the names themselves tell that Command Aliases are shortcuts for Commands. But every command does not have Command Aliases. Those Commands which we use frequently have these Aliases. But we can create our custom Command Aliases for the most frequent tools of our own.

Here is the step by step process to Create Custom Command Aliases

  1. In this Tutorial we are going to create a Command Alias for the command "FILLET EDGE". So first type the command "ALIASEDIT" and Press Enter.
  2. A new dialogue box will be opened. Click on the ADD button. Another dialogue box will be opened.
  3. In the first box type an alias of your wish. In the second box type the command you are willing to use, in this case "FILLETEDGE".
  4. Make sure you are not giving an existing alias for the command. Press OK and then OK in the first dialogue box.
  5. You will be prompted to select yes or no for the change of .pgp file. Press YES and then OK.
  6. Now you can use your new Command Alias.
